Patwari among 3 arrested by CBI for accepting bribe

JAMMU, Aug 7: A revenue official (Patwari) and two other persons have been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40000 in Udhampur district.
As per an official statement, a case was registered against a property dealer, resident of Village Jib, tehsil and district Udhampur, on the allegations that he was demanding a bribe of Rs 40000 on behalf of a Patwari from the complainant for issuance of Fard (revenue extract) of a property being purchased by complainant’s father.
Accordingly, it said, the investigating agency laid a trap and arrested three persons, including the property dealer, a middleman, and the Patwari red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe.
“Post arrest, CBI also conducted searches at the residences of the accused,” read the statement.
While all the accused have been produced before the court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI cases) further investigation is underway, it said.
