Patwari remanded to judicial custody

Srinagar, Mar 3 : The Anti-Corruption Court today remanded a Patwari to three day judicial custody in a bribery case.
A special CBI team arrested a Patwari, Mohammad Afzal, posted at Bemina Budgam during a raid on the residence of his father in law, a retired inspector of PDD yesterday. He was remanded to judicial custody for three days by an anti-corruption court.
The Patwari was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 13,000 from Srinagar. Several important documents were recovered from Patwari’s house and the residences of his close relatives. The team confiscated and the investigation team is examining the bank accounts besides the assets of accused Patwari.
The CBI has launched a massive drive into alleged bribery and embezzlement of public funds in the Jammu and Kashmir and has cracked down on the culprits. Several investigating teams comprising senior officers have been formed to review the records of government construction agencies, corporations and other government departments.
