KATHUA, Dec 28: The Patwar Association sat on dharna in DC office complex here, today in support of their demands to get justice and immediate arrest of culprits behind the attack on Revenue team in tehsil Marheen of Kathua district.
Scores of patwaries sat on protest dharna in front of DC office here to register their protest and anger against attack on Revenue team. Earlier they were sitting on protest dharna in Hiranagar for last seven days. The Patwar Association president said that on December 20 on the direction of Government, a Revenue team led by tehsildar and naib tehsildar, Girdawer ,Patwari and other staff reached in Marheen area to measure the State land encroached by encroachers. But land encroacher and their associates attacked the team and pelted stones on them in which three Revenue officials were injured.
He said a police report was also registered and matter raised up to DC level but till the date the culprits were not arrested by police.
The Patwaries were demanding the immediate arrest of culprits and also security cover for them when they move to field works in land matters. They warned the Government to take action immediately otherwise Patwaries would launch province level strike.
