Patwaris strike enters sixth day

JAMMU, July 21: The ongoing strike of Patwaris and ‘Girdawars’ with regard to the solution of their long pending problems entered sixth day, here today.
Raising slogans in favour of their demands, they staged ‘dhranas’ in front of their respective tehsil headquarters and alleged that the State government has failed to fulfill its written agreement signed on March 5, 2012.
The demands projected included removal of pay anomalies with retrospective effect, stoppage of direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars, relaxation in PSGA, enhancement of PSC examination chances from four to eight, establishment of departmental enquiry cell, inclusion of staff working in computer centre into ETS promotion quota, patwar training to all settlement assistants and prism-men besides enhancement of their basic pay and transparency in transfer policy.
