Pawan bags Prof Ram Nath Shastri Memorial award

JAMMU, Apr 8: Pawan Verma, young dogri poet was declared winner of 11th Prof. Ram Nath Shastri Memorial award for his collection of dogri poetry ‘Jo Katteya So Mahlein’.
The decision in this regard was announced in the final meeting of jury members for Prof. Ram Nath Shastri Memorial Award-2024, held here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Lalit Magotra, President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu said that out of the shortlisted books evaluated by Jury members, consolidated numbers went in favour of Pawan Verma who was awarded with this prestigious award for his first dogri book ‘Jo Katteya So Mahlein’.
Magotra said that this year also a number of books were submitted by dogri writers, which is an encouraging sign.
He hoped that such awards will inspire more dogri writers to compile their works in book form and get acknowledged.
It is pertinent to add here that this annual award is given by Dogri Sanstha in collaboration with family of Prof. Ram Nath Shatsri for first ever book of the dogri writer written in last five years and carries a cash award of Rs 21,000, a memento and a shawl.
The jury comprised of Prof. Veena Gupta, Inderjeet Kesar, Vijaya Thakur, Puran Chander Sharma and Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’.
