REASI, Dec 16: Advocate Pawan Dev Singh has been elected as president of Bar Association Reasi, elections of which were held today.
In a direct contest, he defeated Ajay Salathia with a huge margin. Pawan Dev Singh was polled 43 out of 60 votes while his opponent could secure only 17 votes.
Elections of Bar Association Reasi were held for the first time in history as there was a precedent that its office bearers were elected unopposed.
The election was held for the post of president, vice president and general secretary whereas joint secretary was already elected unopposed. The Bar Association Reasi has a strength of 62 votes and out of that 60 votes were polled.
For the post of vice president, Harish Sharma secured 31 votes whereas his rival candidate Rakeshjeet Singh secured 29 votes. Similarly, for the post of general secretary, Shubham Sharma Advocate secured 32 votes and his rival candidate Amit Singh got 28 votes.
The election was conducted by Shalinder Bharadwaj Advocate who was Returning Officer.
