Pawan Gupta submits memorandum to LG

UDHAMPUR, Mar 7: Former Minister and ex MLA, Pawan Kumar Gupta called on Lt. Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu and submitted a memorandum concerning about the developmental issues and other impediments in the progress of development of Jammu and Kashmir to him.
Discussing the issue of extraction of minerals such as sand and Bajari from rivers and Nallahs, which has been banned by the Government for last more than one year, Gupta said this has resulted into halting of developmental works in the UT coupled with promoting of malpractices and black-marketing thereby forcing the people to purchase such material on exorbitant rates. Besides, thousands of labourers involved in extraction of minerals have been rendered jobless and the vehicle owners are unable to repay the installments of loans availed by them due to imposition of ban.
He discussed the issue of four-lanning of National Highway (Old alignment) from Phalata to Jakhani with Governor.
Gupta also raised the issue of construction of Arterial Road from Dhar Road to National Highway, as Udhampur is surrounded with Army and Air Force on both sides of the town so there is every apprehension of choking of township with security vehicles and school buses in absence of any arterial road.
He requested for an Arterial Road from Dhar Road to National Highway via Dandyal and Omara in order to decongest Udhampur town. The issue of widening of Link Road from Town Hall to Omara Road as well as Forest Link road was also raised by him.
He, while demanding construction of New Bus Stand at Udhampur said the existing is insufficient to cater to the need of present requirement due to tremendous increase in population. Gupta raised the issue of acute water scarcity in Udhampur town.
He also requested the Lt. Governor for establishment of Transport Yard and Warehouse in the town. On restructuring and remodelling of Udhampur town, Gupta said that due to non availability of parking space in the town frequent traffic jams are witnessed especially near the main market.
Gupta also requested for establishment of Auditorium at Udhampur by taking up the matter with Government of India. He stressed on establishment of Solid Waste Management Plant in Udhampur.
He said an amount of Rs. 10.00 crore was sanctioned by the Government of India for construction of Sports Stadium at Udhampur but the decision for dismantling of the old structure is still awaited which needs to be expedited.
He demanded establishment of heavy and I.T Industries at Udhampur. He said a modern Slaughter House is proposed to be constructed at Udhampur and it should be finalized now.
Further he demanded release of Wages of CP Workers, Daily Rated Workers, Casual Labourers of PHE Department and stressed on framing a policy for their regularization.
