LEH, May 2: The Advisor to the Union Territory of Ladakh, Dr Pawan Kotwal chaired a meeting to discuss the ongoing implementations of the 4G Saturation Project in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Total 271 4G BTS/Tower sites have been sanctioned under this project to provide voice/data connectivity to uncovered villages & hamlets of UT Ladakh. The project aims to enhance digital connectivity across Ladakh, ensuring that both Leh and Kargil districts are equipped with high-speed 4G internet services.
The meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat, Leh. At the outset of the meeting, the SDE, BSNL (Nodal Officer 4G Sat) gave a detailed presentation on site and land allotment details, tower work details, media details of OFC, and routes (RoW Summary).
Deliberations and discussions focused on assessing the current progress of the 4G Saturation Project and devising strategies to overcome obstacles that have slowed down the implementation process. The meeting also addressed several pressing challenges, including geographical barriers, extreme weather conditions, and logistical hurdles that impede swift project execution.
The meeting took a resolution that included the establishment of a task force to monitor progress weekly, ensuring accountability and sustained momentum.
Dr Pawan Kotwal emphasized the importance of the project in bridging the digital divide in Ladakh, which is critical for boosting the local economy, improving educational resources, and enhancing healthcare services through telemedicine. He directed the officials to prioritize the installation of necessary infrastructure in remote areas and to engage more actively with local communities to raise awareness about the benefits of 4G connectivity.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to expedite the completion of the 4G Saturation Project, recognizing its pivotal role in transforming Ladakh into a digitally empowered society.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Conservator of Forest, Ladakh; ACR, Leh; General Manager, BSNL, Ladakh; IT Consultant, Ladakh; Project Manager, IT, Ladakh; SDE Mobile BSNL (Nodal Officer for 4G Saturation); Representative from Pace Digitek Infra Pvt Ltd (Vendor Civil, BSNL); Representative from TCS (Vendor, Electrical Equipment’s BSNL); while Deputy Commissioner/ CEO, LAHDC, Kargil; Chief General Manager, Telecom, J&K BSNL; General Manager, BSNL, Srinagar; SDE, BSNL, Kargil joined the meeting virtually.
