JAMMU, May 8: Pradesh Congress Committee expressed concern over the loss suffered by the cocoon rearers of tehsils Nowshera, Sunderbani and other parts of district Rajouri for the second consecutive year due to the negligence of Department of Sericulture.
In a statement issued here by Member Legislative Council (MLC) and spokesman of Pradesh Congress Committee, Ravinder Sharma, said that seed supplied by the Department of Sericulture did not suit to the climatic conditions as a result they suffered huge loss last year and this year too and the department has maintained criminal silence in the matter.
He urged the Minister for Agriculture to personally intervene into the matter of vital public importance as the sericulture industry in these areas was badly affected.
