PCDA(O) website hacked; personal details feared compromised

NEW DELHI, Apr 8: The official website of Office of the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Officers) has been hacked and it is feared that personal details besides login names and passwords may have been compromised.

Defence sources said the hacking took place on March 31 and since then the website — www.Pcdaopune.Gov.In — has been down.

The only message available on the website, that deals with all officers in the Army, is “The Web Site will resume shortly. Salary has been successfully uploaded on bank server on 1st April. SoA will be made available shortly”.

It was immediately not known as to who could have been behind the hacking. But certain neighbouring countries are known to have carried out such attacks in the past on various defence websites.

Following the hacking, an advisory has been issued which says that login ID and password is likely to have been compromised along with badge numbers of each officers, PAN number, date of birth and day of commissioning.

It advises the officers against possible phishing mails on emails registered with PCDA (O). It also directed them to change their email addresses urgently and register with the website afresh when it becomes operational. (PTI)
