JAMMU, Sept 11: Sangeeta Gupta, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax today held separate meetings with the prominent taxpayers of Jammu and members of Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of J&K Chapter, Jammu.
The first meeting was attended by large number of reputed businessmen of different trade and industries, who are contributing to the State exchequer. During the course of deliberations, she appealed them to enhance their contribution while paying the installment of Advance Tax which is to be deposited on or before September 15.
The prominent taxpayers voluntarily agreed to enhance the payment of Advance Tax by at least 20 to 25%. They also pointed out that they will not only contribute in the payment of Advance Tax but will also spread the message amongst members of the trade and commerce to maximize their contribution for such payment.
They were so moved by the attitude of the PCIT that they offered their services to spread the message not only in trading community but also among other persons who are still shirking to come forward for the payment of Income Tax which is being used to strength the economy of the country and betterment of the citizens.
In the meeting with members of Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of J&K Chapter, Jammu, the efforts being made by PCIT in spreading the message of widening of tax base was lauded.
The Chartered Accountants offered their services to guide the new taxpayers in filing of their returns of income and promised PCIT that their services may be utilized for this purpose in respect of taxpayers, who visit the department.
The meetings were also attended by Rajeev Gubgotra, DCIT, B K Raina, Income Tax Officer and other officers of the department.
