JAMMU, Nov 5: In yet another significant step to bridge the gap between Income Tax Department and the general public, Sangeeta Gupta, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K today inaugurated Income Tax Office at Samba.
It is for the first time in the history of J&K that within one week two Income Tax Offices have been opened as on November 3, Sangeeta Gupta inaugurated office at Katra.
“The only purpose to open such offices is to bridge the gap between the Income Tax Department and the general public so as to remove perception amongst the masses about the Income Tax Department”, she said after inaugurating the new Income Tax Office at Samba.
She stressed that people who come under the bracket of Income Tax net should come forward and file their returns of income and contribute for the welfare of the nation as each penny which is being collected by the Income Tax Department is being used by the Government for the welfare of the society.
She asked Chartered Accountants and other tax practitioners to serve as a bridge between the department and public so that coordinated efforts are made to provide hassle free services to the tax payers and more and more people come forward to file their returns of income.
The efforts of the Principal Commissioner IT were appreciated by the speakers on the occasion and they said that public perception about the Income Tax Department has improved a lot.
Sheetal Nanda, DC Samba, Joginder Singh, SSP Samba, KVK Singh, Additional CIT, Yashpal Gupta, President Chamber of Traders Federation, Rakesh Gupta, President, Chamber of Commerce, Vijay Gupta from Samba Traders Association and Anil Sharma, Chairman, Chartered Accountants and other officers of the IT Department and prominent citizens of the Samba district were present on the occasion.
