GANDERBAL, May 19: Grave concern was expressed by the people of the Sehpora and Sherpathri block in Ganderbal district for the power and water crisis in the area.
At a meeting organized by the local unit of JK People’s Conference (PC) at Sehpora today the Government was taken to task for depriving the people of the area of basic amenities of life.
Addressing the meeting, PC district coordinator, Mir Ghulam Rasool said that people in the area were in great misery due to lack of basic amenities of life like water and electricity.
He said that the coalition has been rejected by the people as it was only making hollow slogans and it failed to solve the basic problems of the people.
Mir alleged that MNEREGA has turned out to be a boon for bureaucrats officers and politicians as maximum funds granted by Centre under the scheme are swindled. He said the corruption was on peak in the State and common man was feeling disturbed totally.
He said the Government was concerned for the capitalists and rich and it was pursuing the pro-rich, anti poor and anti working class policies. He appealed the people to join hands and work for the creation of such a system in which there is no exploitation and which can guarantee a respectable life to the poor people.
The meeting was presided over by block president PC Abdul Rashid Dar while it was also addressed by vice president of PC for district Ganderbal G A Dar.
