RAJOURI, July 8: The family members and relatives of a daily-wage PDD employee staged a strong protest and block Thanamandi-Poonch-Bafliaz Road after he died due to electric shock while repairing a power transmission line in Maniyal Gali area of Thanamandi tehsil.
According to the reports, Mohammad Jahangir son of Abdul Aziz, a daily wager in PDD and a resident of Azmatabad (Thannamandi), was repairing the power transmission line when suddenly an employee supplied the power in the transmission line and he got electrocuted. Local people took him in unconscious condition to a nearby Government Hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead.
On hearing the news of the death of the daily wager employee, his family members and other relatives staged a strong protest and blocked the Thannamandi-Poonch- Bafliaz Road by keeping the dead body on the Road. The protesters accused the PDD for negligence and said that earlier also, many such incidents happened in which people had to lose their lives.
Relatives of the deceased demanded the PDD and the Police Department to conduct a thorough probe into the matter and punish the guilty. They demanded SDM Shafiq Mir, SDPO Imtiyaz Ahmed and Tehsildar Thanamandi Syed Sahil Ali Shah (who visited the protest site) that a murder case be registered against the guilty personnel.
After the assurance of fair probe into the matter from the concerned SDPO and assurance of cash relief and job to one family member of the deceased from the Xen Tassadak Shaikh, the protesting people lifted the blockade and dispersed with the dead body.
