PDD daily wagers’ indefinite strike enters 232nd day

JAMMU, July 17: The indefinite strike launched by All J&K PDD Daily Wagers Union (Jammu province)   entered  the 232nd day today.
President of the Union, Surjit Khajuria is leading the protest. The workers are sitting on protest dharna in the office complex of  SE, EM&RE PDD on Railway Road, Jammu. They had launched Kam Chhor Hartal on November 28, 2016.
Today the PDD Daily Wagers Union members led its president,  assembled near Press Club Jammu and held protest demonstration. They were carrying empty plates and other utensils in hands,  making   sounds. They were shouting slogans against the State Govt and PDD authorities.  The agitating workers were also projecting their demands of regularization and release of  wages.
Several Union leaders  addressed the gathering. They alleged that concerned authorities were not convening DPC. Due to non- release of wages, many workers are facing starvation. The daily rated workers from Jammu district have not been regularized at par with the workers from other districts.
Chairman of the Union Bharat  Singh urged upon the Dy Chief Minister ( I/C Minister PDD)  Dr Nirmal Singh to intervene personally and resolve the matter.  Vice-Chairman Gurnam Slathia, general secretary Ashwani Kumar  and secretary Ajay Sharma also addressed the gathering.
