JAMMU, Jan 11: PDD Daily Wagers Union today staged a protest dharna against Development Commissioner (Power) at power station Janipur, Jammu.
Hundreds of daily wagers of PDD assembled this afternoon at power station Jammu and staged a protest dharna under the leadership of president, PDD Daily Wagers Union, Arvind Sharma, vice-president, Gulmohar Bhat abd chairman, Bharat Singh.
They raised slogans against the administration for not filling about 617 vacant posts in the department including technicians, foremen and others.
While speaking on the occasion, Arvind Sharma, said that about 617 posts of technicians and Class IV are lying vacant in the department and a letter in this regard was written by the Chief Engineer, PDD to Development Commissioner (Power) a couple of months ago but despite lapse of a long time, the Development Commissioner did not act on the letter.
The association threatened to gherao the office of Development Commissioner, if favourable action is not taken by him till tomorrow afternoon.
