RAJOURI, July 21: A strong protest demonstration was held by daily wagers of Power Development Department in Rajouri today, demanding release of their pending salary and resolution of pending demands which they had projected before the Government several times.
The workers assembled near District Police Lines in Rajouri town and staged protest dharna. They told that they are performing duty without any salary and department is not paying any attention towards them as they are doing all the works in the department assigned to them by putting their life at risk. They added that a number of daily wagers lost their lives while performing their job and department has no policy for them which is a great injustice and left their families to suffer.
The protesting employees told that they are doing work on a meager salary which is not paid to them timely, due to which their families have to suffer badly. They further demanded that Government must come out with a clear policy regarding their regularisation in the department.
They claimed that if their demands are not met with in two days, they will go for indefinite strike till their demands are fulfilled. They added that Government promised with them in 2021 and same has not been implemented till now. They warned that they will go for indefinite strike in support of thir demands.
