JAMMU, July 24: Provincial Power Employees Union (PPEU) with the staff of different wings of Power Development Department held a protest here at Canal Road office against manhandling of the inspection team of the Department.
The protesting employees condemned the manhandling of the engineers and the associated inspection team led by Virender Kumar (JE) and Allah Ditta (Lineman, Channi, Miran Sahib Sub Division) allegedly by one Davinder Kumar Bali and sons of Singhpura area falling under the Miran Sahib Sub Division.
“The inspection team had gone to check illegal hooking and load as the transformer of the area had been getting damaged frequently. During the process of inspection, the accused entered into altercation with the inspection team and manhandled the team using his contacts,” they added.
They impressed upon the police and administration to bring the guilty to justice and restore the confidence of the engineers and the field staff who were performing the Government duty. They requested the higher ups in the department to take up the matter with the police and Sub Divisional Magistrate and seek exemplary punishment to such people who create law and order problem during inspections of power theft being carried out by the team of JPDCL across Jammu.
The protesting employees further requested the enforcement agencies like police to create a sense of fear among the erring vested elements among the crowd and desist them from engaging in power thefts.
