PDD fails to make transformer functional at Chak Manga

SAMBA, Oct 10: The power transformer installed in Chak Manga, Rakwal Samba for the last ten months has not been commissioned till date. People said that despite informing departmental officials many times no action was taken with the result they are facing problems of low voltage and load shedding.
Local residents Ramesh Singh, Trishala Devi, Varsha Devi, Joginder Kumar, Raj Rani, Vishal and Satish Kumar said that in Chak Manga Rakwal near the industrial area, with the help of the then MLA Yashpal Kundal, got a 100 KVA transformer for the area to overcome the low voltage problem. The transformer was installed, but the officials of the Power Development Department (PDD), put the load of nearby cold storage and a hotel on the transformer due to which people have to stay in darkness during the summer season as low voltage problem did not end and load shedding for the last five years is continuing. They said that complaints were made in this regard from AEE to X-En of PDD but to no avail.
Local people said that a power transformer was installed earlier this year under the Central Government scheme, but it has not been given connection till date. People said that despite making the departmental officials aware many times, the transformer has not been commissioned yet.
People said that under the Jan Abhiyan in the UT, the development works are being done under the back to village program and this transformer should also be made functional soon.
When contacted Executive Engineer, M&RE Samba, Bhola  Bhandari said that due to the Central plan, the installation work of this transformer is being looked after by the Project Wing of PDD. He said there has been delay in commissioning of transformers due to the shortage of labour after the spread of Corona. He assured that the transformer will be commissioned soon.
