PDD seizes banned heaters, boilers

KISHTWAR, Dec 9: The Power Development Department (PDD) here today raided and seized the banned nichrome-based heaters and boilers.
The operation led by Showkat Khan, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Electric Sub-Division Kishtwar along with dedicated team of engineers and field staff was to prevent overloading of feeders and to safeguard the expensive power infrastructure and cables from frequent damage.
During drive, approximately 140 banned and unauthorized heaters, boilers and other gadgets were confiscated and destroyed by the PDD team.
This proactive measure resulted in a significant reduction of nearly half a Mega watt (MW) of load, bringing much-needed relief to the strained power distribution system.
The PDD has emphasized that such inspection drives will not be limited to urban areas but will also be extended to rural areas in coming days.
PDD has also issued a stern warning against the tampering with electricity meters.
The Power Development Department has urged residents to cooperate by refraining from using unauthorized appliances and adhering to legal power usage.
