Addressing a press conference, Akhil Sharma, President, J&K Need Based and Casual Labours Union, PDD Jammu Province said that the need based and casual workers are suffering a lot as their salaries are pending from the past 7 years.
“We submitted memorandums at different quarters demanding release of our wages, but nothing has been done till date. The need based and casual workers are suffering on account of price rise of essential commodities and non-release of pending salaries”, he added.
Sharma said that many officers of the department assured them that their demands will be considered, but all the assurances turned fake and false.
He added that the department is paying wages to the need based and casual workers of PDD in Kashmir on monthly basis, but has ignored Jammu Division workers.
Sharma appealed to the Governor to intervene into the issues of the need based and casual workers to redress their issues, so as to provide some succor to them, as their families are on the verge of starvation due to non-payment of wages from the past seven years. He also appealed to regularize the need based and casual workers of the Jammu Division at par with Kashmir Division.
