HIRANAGAR, June 29: The employees and workers from PDD held protest demonstration in support of their demands at M&RE Sub-Division complex here today.
The workers under the banner of Provincial Electric Employees Union led by P C Sharma (president) assembled at the PDD office Hiranagar in the morning and staged protest demonstration followed by dharna. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
The major demands of the PDD workers included reorganization of department, regularization of daily wagers, opening of new EM&RE Division in Kathua with headquarters at Basohli, remove shortage of staff at new stations by appointing new, provision of tools and implements to the field and other operational staff, deployment of permanent lineman for the maintenance of lines and distribution of power, ensuring availability of funds at Sub-Division level for immediate restoration of power, providing drinking water at all power stations, rotational duty of JEs/ Foremen at SD headquarters during nights, provision of street lights, telephone facility at stations, clear pending wage of daily rated workers and provision of bathrooms at power stations.
