PDP asks cadre to gear up for ULB, Panchayat polls

JAMMU, Dec 15: People’s Democratic Party general secretary Ved Mahajan today asked party leaders and workers to gear up for the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat elections, expected to be held soon.
While addressing the party workers’ convention of Jammu Rural district, organized by District president FC Bhagat at party office here today, Mahajan said the party needs to be ready for the election to ensure success and take the State forward. “We have to make our party ready so that we win the municipality election with good success and take this State forward”, Mahajan added.
Ved Mahajan reminded that PDP in its election manifesto had especially emphasised on Jammu city so as to develop this historical city as heritage tourism destination. “We have a comprehensive vision for developing this historic city in every sphere of life,” he said and reminded that during his earlier tenure as Chief Minister from 2002 to 2005, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had initiated many revolutionary steps for beautification of Jammu city.
He said that people have understood everything and are wise enough to compare the present PDP-BJP Coalition Governance and the previous dispensation and appealed the people to reject those who only put the State on the path of non- development and corruption.
Reiterating commitment of the Coalition Government to develop Jammu as Independent Tourist Destination, Vikramaditya Singh, MLC, said that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has a comprehensive vision for the socio-economic growth of Jammu region. He said that PDP in its agenda has also promised to implement a comprehensive programme so that Jammu will remain a favourite tourist destination of tourists and devotees from all over the country and aboard.
Vikramaditya referred to the statement of Chief Minister in which the Mufti Sayeed has said that an appropriate strategy has been devised to create attractive assets in and around the winter capital to sustain tourist footfall, which has a direct bearing on trade and business of the city.
Ex MLA and senior leader Shanti Devi, vice chairman SC Advisory Board Bhushan Dogra, State secretary, Jitender Bhat senior leaders Ch Hussain Ali Waffa, former Minister Ch Gharu Ram, Satpal Singh Charak and others also addressed the workers.
