Jammu, Dec 4: Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh today lashed out at the former chief minister Omar Abdullah asserting that the present PDP-BJP dispensation is trying to clear the mess created in the Kashmir valley over the years.
”The present government is trying to clear the mess created over the years in a brief period of two years of power,” Dr Singh here told reporters at the sidelines of a function.
He said that Omar Abdullah is accusing himself, his father and grandfather, who have been at the helm of affairs for decades, which has led to this mess.
He (Omar Abullah) is trying to redeem what he and three generations of his party have done to Kashmir, Dr Singh said.
The Union Minister’s reaction came in the wake of Mr Abdullah calling on the Narendra Modi Government not to blame Pakistan for the Kashmir unrest.
”The current government is trying to clear the mess of the previous NC regime in the state,” he added.
He further alleged that ‘Kashmir-centric’ politicians continue to openly accuse the Centre over Pakistan, but do not have the courage to say a single word against the provocative statements by the hostile neighbour, as it would irk Islamabad’s sympathisers in Kashmir.
Dr Singh said that drive against black money and “remonetisation” will ultimately benefit the farmer and enrich the agricultural and rural economy of India.
”The money added to state exchequer will eventually go to those sections of society which were so far being held to ransom as a result of black money hoarded by a few. ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana’ announced by the PM recently is envisaged to get accomplished when the parallel economy or black money becomes a part of country’s legitimate or mainstream economy,” he said after laying the foundation stone of Kisan Vigyan Kendra at Samba.
Dr Singh said, the opposition leaders, who are uncomfortable with this decision, are regularly putting out different arguments to challenge it and one of the arguments put across is, how will it help the large population of India living in rural and semi-rural areas or the large number of common citizens queuing up for exchange of currency notes.
”The answer to this is very simple and when a handful of people hoarding unaccounted money obtained through illegitimate means are made to surrender it to the banks, this will ultimately end up in reinforcing the country’s legitimate exchequer and increase the quantum of money in the banks,” he maintained.
As a result, he said, this would enable the State exchequer to carry forward the Modi government’s pro -farmer and pro-poor schemes in a more effective manner by providing higher financial resources, possible reduction in interest rates for loans to the farmer, the poor, the needy and the youth entrepreneurs, and raising the overall capacity of fair economic transaction.
