SRINAGAR, July 22: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today castigated the administration for the alleged selective SPO recruitment drive in Udhampur, Doda, Rajouri, and Poonch districts of Jammu division.
Addressing a press conference, PDP’s General Secretary, Mehboob Beigh, said that in these districts, the police authorities were instructed not to advertise these posts. “Instead, they were given specific areas within these districts with specific formats to be filled.”
“These areas are all militancy-infested. What sort of recruitment is this, and how are they going to end unemployment like that? Why these formats, why not advertisements? There is no transparency in this recruitment. This is backdoor recruitment; if this is not the case, then the government must explain,” he said. Click here to watch video
He mentioned that in the past, the posts were advertised in different departments, after which the applicants completed the formalities and took the exam.
“But when the results came, we saw scams, and the exams were cancelled; the people do not know why those scams happened, and to date, they have not been told anything,” he said.
On the foreign investments in J&K, Beigh said that it does not appear that people from outside have made any investments here as the issue of unemployment lingers.
“We were told that investments have been made, but people know that there are none because we have not seen ventures being set up that would have provided employment to the youth,” he said.
