PDP creates ruckus over registration of FIRs against Kashmiri youth, Assy adjourned

JAMMU : The State Legislative Assembly was today adjourned for about 20 minutes as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party members created ruckus over registration of FIRs against youth in Lolab and other parts of Kashmir Valley.
Shouting slogans, PDP members raised the issue of registration of cases against the youth in Lolab area of Kupwara, who were protesting against the killing of militants recently in an encounter.
PDP MLA from Pahalgam Rafi Ahmad Mir, however, raised the matter of thrashing of Kashmiri students in Meerut after India-Pakistan match and their ousting from the College. The member alleged that Kashmiri youth are not safe outside the State and they are being treated badly.
PDP legislators’ demanded withdrawal of cases against the youth in Srinagar Valley and also action against the ill-treated Kashmiris in Meerut.
As the members disrupted the House proceedings and staged protest in the well of the House, Speaker Mubarak Gul adjourned the House for 20 minutes.
As soon as the House resumed, PDP members continued protesting amid slogans, “Begunahon ko Naujawano Ko Insaaf Do.” The members, later staged a walkout from the House.
BJP members, led by Legislative Party leader Ashok Khajuria, also raised the issue of reservation to Jats in the House.
They demanded that Jats in Jammu and Kashmir should also be given reservation as the Central Cabinet announced it in nine states.
Creating pandemonium, BJP members also staged a walkout. (AGENCIES)
