MENDHAR, Nov 17: Observing that People’s Democratic Party has ultimately shed its pretensions of being a Kashmir centric entity, Minister for Planning and Development Ajay Kumar Sadhotra and Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Sunday said that lust for power has made it jump into the lap of Sangh Parivar.
“It is only a question of time when PDP will formally blend with its originators in New Delhi”, the senior National Conference leaders declared while addressing a workers rally, held at Mendhar to felicitate Javed Rana on his election as Deputy Chairman Legislative Council.
Mr Sadhotra said that there was never ever any doubt about BJP and PDP being two faces of the same coin, as both these outfits clandestinely supplemented each other on various issues having far reaching consequences for the special and unique status of Jammu and Kashmir. He referred to the attempts of disruption engineered in 2008 with one party taking command in the Jammu region and the other in Kashmir province with a view to bring the people face to face on regional and communal lines.
“BJP has been crying hoarse over religion being in danger while PDP has been shedding crocodile tears over the situation in Kashmir”, he said and described these attempts as hoodwinking the public opinion to derive political benefits. He said the people have been sagacious enough to read between the lines and keep bay the communal and divisive forces.
Castigating PDP for its sheer opportunism, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana said that the power hungry party can go to any extent and even barter the interests of the State and welfare of the people for petty political interests.
Mr Rana poohpood the tall claims being made by the PDP leadership that they are not clamouring for power and said that its top leadership is sitting in Delhi for the last couple of days hobnobbing with the BJP and its sympathizers. He alleged that Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was using a former Director of IB, who happens to be advising the BJP on the security related matters, a women social activist running an NGO, close to Mehbooba Mufti and a Delhi based senior elderly journalist who happens to be Mufti’s close friend to be the conduits between the PDP and the BJP.
Mr Rana said the PDP having been snubbed by the Congress is now building bridges with the BJP. He said the PDP leadership, which has been praising the BJP and its leadership for the past couple of weeks vociferously is promising BJP that it will get into a clandestine ,covert understanding with the party like it did in 2002 and assuming that the BJP rides to the power, the PDP will gladly act as Modi’s proxy in J&K if helped by the BJP through dubious means to win an election which when they win they claim to be ‘free and fair’ and when they lose ‘rigged’.
Lambasting BJP for inciting passions and fomenting hatred between the communities, the Provincial President said that Jammu and Kashmir will not allow itself to be a breeding ground for Modi type politics. “National Conference will fight tooth and nail the fascist and reactionary forces which are desperately trying to make inroads in the land of saints and sages”, he asserted while saying that the State will prove as waterloo for communal forces, who have been venturing to vitiate the atmosphere.
The Provincial President cautioned the people in general and National Conference workers in particular against divisive forces and urged them to work for cementing the bonds of brotherhood between various communities. He asked the party workers to prepare for big challenge in 2014 and generate awareness among the people about the programmes and policies implemented by Omar Abdullah led Government for their economic emancipation and overall development.
Deputy Chairman Legislative Council Javed Rana also addressed the gathering.
Prominent among those present included Ch. Talib Hussain, ex-MP, Bashir Ahmad Wani, District President Rajouri and others.
