PDP gives Iltija charge for Bijbehara

SRINAGAR, Aug 19: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today finalised the list of constituency incharges ahead of the Assembly elections that are set to commence from September 18 this year.

Abdul Rehman Veeri has been given the task to oversee Anantnag East constituency, Sartaj Ahmad Madani Devsar, Dr Mehboob Beg, to oversee Anantnag and Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura Charar-e-Shareef.
Mehbooba’s daughter, Iltija Mufti has been made incharge for Bijbehara. The constituency is PDP’s bastion.
Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani has been given the charge of Watchi while Waheed-ur-Rehman has been assigned the task for Pulwama and Rafiq Ahmad Naik of Tral.
This is the second list which was released today. Earlier the party released a list of 14 constituencies incharges.
Sources said that there is some resentment among the party leaders over the inclusion of some leaders in the list and dropping of the others.
Abdur Rehman Veeri is reportedly upset over the party’s reported decision of fielding him from Anantnag East instead of Bijbehara where the party has decided to field Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter. Veeri, has won Bijbehara seat four times.
In Shopian’s Zainapora, PDP has made senior worker Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani as constituency incharge while former MLA and DDC member Aijaz Ahmad Mir has been dropped.
