JAMMU, June 8: Continuing its campaign against acute scarcity of drinking water and unprecedented power crises in Jammu city, activists of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today organized a massive protest demonstration at Gandhi Nagar area. The demonstration was held under the leadership of R K Bali district president of the party. The demonstration started from the party office and passed through different areas of Gandhi Nagar. Slogan shouting PDP activists also disrupted traffic on National Highway for quite some time.
PDP leaders while addressing the workers said that party has launched State -wide campaign against poor supply of drinking water and electricity besides price-rise as the Centre and State Governments have miserably failed to ensure regular and adequate supply of essential commodities besides checking the sky rocketing prices. They said that a common citizen was finding it very difficult to survive but the Government was least concerned. They said that in these days when the temperature has already crossed 45 degrees, the long power cuts and inadequate supply of drinking water has resulted into resentment among the people as a result of which they are forced to come on roads.
They accused the coalition Government of its total failure on all fronts saying that it is the ineptness of the Omar Abdullah led Government that people miseries are increasing day by day. They said though Government was supposed to take stock of the situation arising due to power and water crisis in Jammu region in these hot Summer days the Ministers are enjoying the cool breeze in Valley leaving the people in this hot region in lurch.
They said the PDP being a responsible Party can’t tolerate the sufferings of people whether in Kashmir Valley or Jammu region and would launch a protest in a democratic way to warn the Government of its wrong doings as there is a public outcry against power and water crisis in the entire State.
