JAMMU, July 6: Former Minister and senior National Conference leader Ajay Sadhotra (MLC) has alleged that PDP leadership is in habit of dismantling democratic institutions in the State.
While addressing a public meeting at village Bachyal in Marh block of district Jammu today, Mr Sadhotra said from the very first day Mufti Sayeed took over as Chief Minister in 2002 every effort was made to split National Conference Legislature Party by luring the MLAs. The wisdom, vision and leadership qualities of Omar Abdullah and dedication and commitment of the MLAs towards NC frustrated the efforts of Mufti Sayeed and National Conference Legislature Party stood like a rock behind the party leader.
Sadhotra said during Mufti led Government after 2002, a Bill was passed to dissolve duly elected Panchayats to shorten their term, the move was negated by the NC. The PDP leadership has track record of always demolishing democratic institutions, he added.
The NC leader asked the people not to be misled by the false pro-democracy slogans of PDP leadership as it has always acted against democracy. The meeting was also addressed by Sarpanch Subash Sharma, Panch Nirmla, Raghubir Singh, Mangal Dass and Capt Bachan Singh.
