SRINAGAR, July 17: A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) today slapped and manhandled National Conference Member Legislative Council (MLC) in District Development Board (DDB) meeting in SKICC here today.
The eyewitnesses said that NC MLC, Ali Mohammad Dar raised the issue of Sointeng Lasjan School and demanded that it should be upgraded to Higher Secondary. He told the DDB meeting that a piece of Government land is available there and it should be handed over to the school.
MLA Chadoora, Javed Mir objected and manhandled him and the two had an argument over the issue. Javed Mir in the rush of blood slapped Dar in front of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The security officials rushed in and pacified the two lawmakers. The issue disturbed the meeting for few minutes. However, it continued later.
In the meantime, MLA Javed Mir has apologised and said that he should have controlled himself. He said that he has respect for Dar and admitted that he has committed a mistake.
Dar told Excelsior that Mir should apologise before the DDB and people of Sointeng and its adjacent areas whom he was representing when Mir manhandled him.
