New Delhi, July 15: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Parliamentarians continued their protest in the Lok Sabha for the second consecutive day today seeking immediate end to innocent killings in Gaza. The party had moved an adjournment motion in the House seeking a discussion on the Gaza crisis.
As the Lok Sabha convened here this morning, PDP members Mehbooba Mufti and Tariq Hameed Karra got up from their seats urging the Speaker that the House should adopt a resolution condemning continued Israeli aggression in Gaza that has led to more than 170 innocent deaths.
Holding placards PDP MPs marched towards the well of the House and staged a sit-in there. They were later joined by the members of MIM, Congress, TMC, CPI(M), Samajwadi Party and others in their demand for seeing an end to Israeli aggression.
As the House showed its reluctance in adopting a resolution on the Palestinian issue, citing diplomatic intricacies, the PDP members walked out of the House.
The PDP MPs said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should raise the issue at BRICS summit to ensure that there is an immediate end to Isareli airstrikes in Gaza.
They said as the largest democracy of the world India can’t remain a mute spectator to this naked aggression by Israel that has already consumed more 170 innocent Palestinian lives, with hundreds of others injured and thousands fleeing their homes.
