SOPORE, July 8: President Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek (JKBT) and former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil today said that Article 370 of India Constitution empowers Jammu and Kashmir to enjoy special position in Indian union.
Addressing a convention of party workers at Sopore today, Vakil asked the people to identify those political parties who through their successive regimes have weakened the Article 370.
He said that Article 370 preserves the identity and integrity of the people of J&K.
“NC and PDP throughout their successive regimes reduced Article 370 to a hollow shell and the last nail in the coffin was hit by Mehbooba Mufti by implementing Goods and Services Tax (GST),” Vakil further said.
“Congress should be ashamed of talking about safeguarding the Article 370 as it was Congress which brought down the offices of Sadr-e-Riyasat and Prime Minister by changing its nomenclature,” he maintained.
Vakil further said that NC and PDP can go to any extreme for power, no matter how much they are disrespected and humiliated.
He said that JKBT has started a movement with the sole aim to expose the ‘corrupt’ political opportunists who are responsible for eroding Article 370.
The Convention later passed three resolutions demanding High Court Judge Commission to inquire successive erosions of Article 370 by NC and PDP. The second resolution was to probe the backdoor appointments both in Omar’s and Mehbooba’s regime and demand of probe into innocent killings was in third resolution.
