PDP pays glowing tribute to Mirza Afzal Beg

ANANTNAG, June 11: People’s Democratic Party (PDP), led by the organizational general secretary and former Parliamentarian, Dr. Mehboob Beg paid glowing tribute to Mirza Mohammed Afzal Beg on his 42nd death anniversary here, today.
The former Deputy Chief Minister of the erstwhile State of Jammu & Kashmir who was popularly known as Fakar -e-Kashmir (proud of Kashmir) was amongst the rare leaders who leave behind indelible marks on the history that said Dr. Mehboob Beg.
Dr. Beg also highlighted how Mirza Afzal Beg had uplifted the majority of the State’s poor with a single stroke of his pen and genius. Dr. Beg said that one could easily find out how the world followed into the footsteps left behind by the great Beg by checking how the world started to realize the importance and then started to implement even years and years after Mirza Afzal Beg had brought, implemented and uplifted his people in Jammu & Kashmir by bringing-in the land to the landless tiller reforms.
Many PDP leaders and locals of the area participated in the gathering and recalled Mirza Afzal Beg’s legal prowess while highlighting his undeniable role in shaping the history of Jammu & Kashmir through his intellect and legal excellence. One local recalled how Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had praised Mirza Afzal Beg’s immense intellect and legal brilliance by claiming that Mirza Afzal Beg could be a ‘jewel’ in any legal system. People were also heard recalling his wit and humor, which was par excellence and well renowned.
In a well-attended gathering, the party paid rich tribute and held prayers for the departed soul at his graveyard in Sarnal.
