SRINAGAR, Apr 1: Describing the upcoming Parliamentary elections fight between communal and secular forces, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and Cong-NC candidate GA Mir has urged upon the people to use this opportunity for strengthening the secular and unifying forces, as the secular fabric of the country is in danger under the ruling dispensation.
Addressing joint meetings at Aishmuqam and Khanabal in Anantnag constituency today Mir said that people should use this opportunity to safeguard the integrity of the State as the communal forces with the support of PDP are hell bent upon to polarize situation and damage the secular fabric to serve their vested interests.
He blamed ruling dispensation for being non-serious and insensitive to the agony of the people and said that there is a mass discontent and fear confronting people due to the deteriorating situation in the Valley, besides the failure of the Govt to contain the situation.
Reminding people of 2014 elections, Mir said people will not forget 2014 in which they had enthusiastically voted for a change, but the outcome of the elections was so astonishing and painful, as those forces against whom people had voted made their entry into the State with the support of PDP.
Mir appealed people to use the upcoming by elections as an opportunity to secure the future of J&K and urged them to vote and support him (Mir) inorder to ensure defeat of ruling dispensation for adopting anti people policies towards the people.
Addressing the meeting former MP Tariq Hamid Karra, MLA Pahalgam Altaf Kaloo made a fervent appeal to voters of entire South Kashmir to vote and support joint Congress and National Conference Candidate GA Mir, who is capable enough to represent them in the Parliament.
Karra emphasized the need to rise to the occasion and unitedly fight the menace of RSS hell bent upon to harm the secular image of the Country.
MLA Aijaz Ahmad Khan told the gathering that people of entire Valley have suffered immensely due to the misrule by the ruling dispensation. He said both the parties have failed in every respect, as a result, there is a deep alienation among the people in all the three regions of the State.
Those who addressed the gathering included AICC leader Imran Kidwai, MLA Abdul Majid Larmi, MLA Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, MLA Ch Mohd Akram, MLC Showket Ahmad Ganie, Irfan Ahmad Bhat and Dr Shafi.
