PDP protests over delay in construction work of flyovers, artificial lake

JAMMU, July 2: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a protest against State Government for delaying the construction work of flyovers and artificial lake in Jammu city.
The activists of PDP led by its Jammu West president Puneet Jamwal and accompanied by ward presidents Rajat Gupta, Chetan Jamwal, Dharminder, Kunal, Sunil and CP Raju assembled at Canal Road and raised slogans against State Government, ERA and PWD for delaying work on the proposed flyovers and artificial lake in the city of temples.
While speaking, Puneet Jamwal said that the work on the proposed BC Road-Rehari Chungi flyover project has been put into the cold storage merely on the issue that huge funding is required for the rehabilitation and land acquisition from Balwinder Chowk to Shakuntla crossing. But the main reason is that the due to some political pressure the work on the project has been stalled, he added.
He further said that during the last five years Omar Abdullah led regime has done nothing to minimize miseries of the people including basic facilities.
Gurdev Singh, vice president, Jammu West said that the work of flyover of Bikram Chowk to Satwari is also running on a snail speed. People are suffering as big barricades along the working site has been raised and have become death traps-leading to number of accidents, hence putting people into problems.
Rajat Gupta alleged that the project of artificial lake Tawi was started in back in year 2010 but unfortunately various deadline for the completion of the project have been missed.
“If immediate steps are not taken to complete the proposed projects as soon as possible, PDP will intensify protests”, the protestors warned.
Among others present were Sandeep Jamwal, Sumit Chadda, Abhishek, Gurdev, Sonu, Sunil, Arun, etc.
