PDP slams Omar Abdullah over PSA revocation remark

SRINAGAR, Feb 1: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today slammed Omar Abdullah for his remarks on PSA revocation, stating that NC vice president has forgotten the fact that he, his father and his grandfather have presided over the most brutal, corrupt and despotic regimes of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, PDP general secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said that since 1931, Abdullah family has been bartering peoples’ aspirations for petty power and has played a vital role in turning Kashmir into a veritable inferno.
He said that soon after assuming office after 1996, the NC regime invented the most inhuman ways to torture the innocent people of Kashmir and enacted new laws like POTA, TADA and many more, making Kashmir one of the most dangerous places on earth to live. Hanjura said that the people of Kashmir still remember the Ikhwan terror and the war crimes committed by the Task Force.
“When Omar, in 2009 took over, his rule began with the killing of a mentally challenged person just outside his residence followed by Shopian rape and murder case. There again instead of siding with the victims, Omar Abdullah by keeping his family legacy alive sided with culprits and concluded that the case was nothing more than a mere case of drowning,” Hanjura said.
He added that what Kashmir is witnessing today is the outcome of the repressive measures which were employed by Omar Abdullah to crush peoples’ voice. “Killing 120 kids in cold blood and then declaring them drug addicts is still fresh in peoples’ memory. People still remember how Srinagar’s central jail was turned into a middle school with kids no more 12 years of age bundled with dreaded criminals. Amnesty International in its 2010 report ridiculed Omar Abdullah for slapping more than 322 people with PSA in just eight months of the year 2010,” said Hanjura.
The PDP general secretary said that NC has always been in the forefront, making attempts to dull the self respect of the people and play with their emotions. “Omar being the Chief Minister hoodwinked people then by sometimes promising revocation of AFSPA in one day and sometimes declaring that the black law will go away in his regime. All such claims are lying around him at present like the dry dead flowers and NC vice president should understand that there is no need for new rabbits at present,” Hanjura said.
