KISHTWAR, June 19: Workers of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) here today staged a protest demonstration against rising unemployment, curtailment of ration scale, unscheduled power curtailment, non-functional Government offices in remote areas of Marwah, Warwan, Dachan and Paddar and inability of local administration to address common issues of general masses.
Addressing the protesters former MLC and senior PDP leader, Firdoz Tak claimed that the administration was suffering from performance paralysis leading to the common public issues remaining unaddressed.
“The democracy and democratic institutions have been taken hostage by BJP while the officials working on ground are more concerned about proving their loyalties to the right wing rather than addressing the issues being confronted by common masses,” he maintained.
PDP state secretary, Sheikh Nasir Hussain, District president Kishtwar, Ishtiyaq Hussain Waza besides senior party functionaries from the district also participated in the protest.
“As general elections draw nearer the BJP has started its own trick of befooling people in the name of region and religion,” Tak said adding that BJP has sold every resource of the erstwhile State to corporate heavyweights while the general masses are being emotionally exploited.
Earlier scores of political workers from different organizations joined PDP.
Prominent among them were Shahnawaz Ahmed Mir, Asif Iqbal Sheikh, Haji Lassa Sheikh, Arshad Ahmed, Muhammad Lateef, Showkat Ali, Mohammad Qayoom, Vinod Kumar, Muneer Hussain, Jatinder Kumar, Ghulam Mohammad Butt, Imtiyaz Hussain, Abdul Aziz Ahanger, Fida Hussain, Adil Hussain and Muzamil Hussain.
