PDP takes out protest rally against Omar-led Govt

JAMMU, June 20: Charging the Omar Abdullah-led Government with failure on all fronts, People’s Democratic Party organized a protest rally, here today.
Shouting slogans against the Government and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the protest rally passed through different parts of the city before culminating near Asia Crossing. The protesting PDP workers also blocked Jammu-Pathankote Highway for some time as mark of protest against the State Government and disrupted vehicular movement.
Earlier, the PDP workers and senior leaders assembled near the party headquarters in Gandhi Nagar. The gathering was addressing by Trilok Singh Bajwa, Ved Mahajan, Dhaman Bhasin, Shanti Devi, R K Bali, Hussain Ali Bafa, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Falail Singh, Abdul Rashid Malik, Capt Anil Gour, Rajinder Manhas, Surjit Kour, Surinder Singh, Chatter Saini, Rashpal Singh Bittu, Bhushan Dogra, Amrik Singh, Narinder Singh Raina, Choudhary Chuni Lal, Devinder Sharma, Varinder Singh Sonu, Vikram Singh, Chander Slathia and others.
Terming Omar Abdullah led Government as gang of looters, the PDP leaders exhorted the party workers to launch a decisive war against this worst ever corrupt and anti-people regime. “Today’s protest rally is declaration of war against this Government which has failed to solve basic problems of the common masses due to its indifferent and casual approach towards woes of the people,” they said.
“Rampant corruption, bungling in funds, non availability of essential commodities like drinking water, electricity and ration are the noticeable achievements of this regime,” PDP leaders said and alleged that the State has been gripped with unprecedented crises due to non availability of ration in the Government runs depots, scarcity of drinking water in most parts of Jammu region coupled with the unscheduled power curtailments.
“Failure of the State Government can be gauged from the fact that farmers, employees, technocrats, unemployed educated youth, students have been agitating in one way or other but the ruling elites seem to be unconcerned towards growing unrest among different sections of the society”, they alleged.
