PDP threatens stir against selling of park land to hoteliers

JAMMU, Aug 4: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the State Government to revoke sale order of chunk of land in already proposed Maharaja Hari Singh Park along the bank of river Tawi.
Addressing a press conference, PDP secretary and in-charge its labour cell Jammu Province, Rafiq Malik lashed out at State Government and JDA for illegally selling 8 kanal of land to Jammu based business person for construction of lavish hotel.
He said that Government was being run like a real estate company as it illegally sold a major portion of Maharaja Hari Singh Park land to an influenced Hotelier for building a five star hotel.
“Business in Jammu only depends on Vaishno Devi pilgrims and with direct train service to Katra many traders of the city are on verge of closing their business or seeking another options for livelihood due to apathetical attitude of Government,” he said.
He also alleged that Government had kept them in the dark about notifying the advertisement regarding auction of land and had not even consulted the locals before allotting the same to business person.
The PDP leaders threatened to intensify the agitation if the decision of selling park land is not revoked by the Government..
Ajay Raina, Dinesh Verma, Jagtar Singh Jagga, Rakesh Sharma and H S Raina among other were also present in the conference.
