PDP’s policy to bring positive change in people’s lives: Mehbooba

SRINAGAR, Nov 12: PDP president  Mehbooba Mufti today said that areas like Bandipur, which are endowed with immense natural assets and legacy of knowledge, can prosper under a just and judicious system which the National Conference has always denied to the people of the State.
Addressing a number of road side meetings in Bajipora, Bandipora town market and Bunkat in Bandipur Assembly constituency in North Kashmir along with the local MLA Nizamudin Bhat, she said PDP’s sole purpose of politics is to bring in a positive change into the lives of the people and build a modern welfare State.
The PDP chief said the political leadership of the present coalition Government has brought a bad name to the entire political class as a result of their single point agenda of making themselves rich at the cost of the people and the State. “From forest land and medicines in the hospitals to food grains, they have tried to grab everything and put on sale contracts, jobs, transfers, postings, MGNREGA, NRHM and virtually every scheme that could have helped the common man improve the standards of life,” she said and expressed concern that there are still large areas without road connectivity, electricity, drinking water and ration.
Regretting that Bandipur like many other areas had become a dead end after independence because of the close of Bandipur-Gilgit corridor of the Silk Route, she said it is high on the agenda  of the PDP to have this route reopened along with other traditional routes to generate opportunities of travel, trade and tourism and employment.
Mehbooba said in order to ensure better connectivity the Srinagar-Bandipur road which has always been in a bad shape will be upgraded on modern lines and construction of a tunnel across Razdhani pass to connect Gurez and construction of Lolab-Bandipur road will be taken up on priority once the PDP forms the Government with the support of the people.
