PDP’s rationale for alliance with BJP aimed to hoodwink people: CPI(M)

SRINAGAR, Jan 5: J&K State Committee of CPI(M), while reacting to the latest statement of PDP spokesperson, Nayeem Akhter regarding the (compulsions) for PDP to forge an alliance with BJP has alleged that  it is a mere eyewash and an effort to mislead and hoodwink the people of the State.
Referring to the latest statement issued by PDP, which was published in some paper, under the headline “Ice breaking?”, the senior State CPI (M) leader Ghulam Nabi Malik has expressed surprise whether the PDP really believed that BJP Govt will resolve the J&K related issues identified by it, only if it allies with the BJP for the formation of the new Government.
“Is it necessary to please and appease the party in power at the centre for the resolution of genuine problems faced by any State in India, including J&K? Does it mean, obedience to the ruling party at the Centre is compulsory for addressing the political issues faced by the State and for its reconstruction and development” CPI (M) leader asserted.
He said by floating the idea that allegiance and obedience to BJP can help in the resolution of the State’s genuine issues, does Nayeem Akhter suggest that regional parties have no role in the people friendly governance and only those parties can resolve the issues of the States who are in power at the Centre.
“Does it also mean that the regional parties in States are irrelevant? Why did PDP fight elections on anti-BJP plank and asserted that the policies of the BJP were against the aspirations of Kashmiris,” Malik added.
He further said by surrendering to BJP, the PDP is already ignoring the aspirations of the masses and is, in fact, preparing them for a great shock, adding the party should, however, know that it is the 21st Century and the people are mature enough that they cannot be taken for a ride or mesmerized by motivated alibi and clever statements.
