Peace bus resumes after 2 weeks

SRINAGAR, Nov 7: The Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), resumed this morning after remaining suspended for two consecutive weeks.
Last week, the peace bus could not operate due to tense situation on the Line of Control (LoC), while on October 24 it was suspended due to ‘Youm-e-Tahsees (Pakistan celebrates October 24 as establishment of PoK, every year).
Official sources said that the bus left Srinagar early morning for Kaman Post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, to avoid any stone pelting and protests due to strike, called by separatists.
They said the exact number of passengers in the bus will be known only in the afternoon as some travellers will join at Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) at Salamabad, Uri.
The passengers, who were scheduled to travel in the cross-LoC bus last week, when the run was suspended due to tense situation on the border, have been accommodated today. (UNI)
