KATRA, Sept 17: While referring to today’s announcement of a special tourism package for J&K, BJP senior leader and MLC Vibodh Gupta called upon the youth to get benefit from such schemes instead of indulging in violence.
He said that it is a matter of great pleasure that on the occasion of birthday of PM Narendra Modi, the State of Jammu & Kashmir has got a tourism development package worth Rs. 500 crore. This grant to State has been sanctioned by the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) chaired by Union Tourism Secretary Vinod Zutshi.
Under this package the Pir Panjal region specially Rajouri and Poonch districts have been sanctioned a grant of Rs. 99 crore. Vibodh informed that this grant will be used to develop world class tourism infrastructure in the Rajouri – Bafliyaz – Shopian – Pulwama tourism circuit. Referring to the recent incidence of violence in Rajouri MLC Vibodh said that the local people specially youth must understand the sincerity of the Government in developing our State into a model State. Such developmental projects can achieve their desired outcomes only when there is a sense of peace and harmony in the region.
He said a handful of miscreants try to disturb peace in the region and thus bring bad name to our area and to the peace loving community of Pir Panjal. This he said has very serious implication on our tourism industry also. Therefore it becomes the moral responsibility of all the citizens to ensure peace so that the State can march ahead on the path of growth and development. He said that we need to draw lessons from various parts of the world that violence can only make us backward and will never allow our future generations in realizing their dreams.
Vibodh called upon the youth of Rajouri and Poonch to maintain peace at all costs and to ensure implementation of such visionary tourism promotion programmes of Government. In the absence of peace no developmental project can see the light of the day.
He further informed that this project in Rajouri and Poonch will focus on Development of Ethnic villages for tourism, tourism interpretation centers and has also a provision for providing ecofriendly vehicles for areas like Pir Ki Gali. He hoped that this project will create huge employment opportunities once it is properly implemented.
