Peddler arrested with poppy straw

Srinagar, Jan 23: Police today arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered poppy straw from his possession.
Authorities stated that a police party from Police Station Baramulla, led by SHO PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Kralhar Baramulla, intercepted a suspicious person.
“During the search, 1.5 kgs of poppy straw-like substance were recovered from his possession,” the police reported.
The individual has been identified as Syed Asif Hussain, son of Syed Sabir Hussain, a resident of Kamalkote Uri.
He has been arrested and shifted to PS Baramulla, where he remains in custody, according to the police.
Consequently, a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla, and investigations has been initiated.
