UDHAMPUR, Sept 16: Udhampur Police today recovered 15.92 kg of Poppy straw from a drug peddler at Jakhani National Highway under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur.
The team of Police Station Udhampur while conducting routine vehicle checking at Jakhani area stopped a vehicle (Mahindra Scorpio) bearing registration number DL3CAS-3697, which was on its way from Kashmir Valley towards Udhampur, for checking.
During checking of vehicle, 15 kg and 920 grams of Poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle, following which the driver of the vehicle namely Mosin Aman Bhat son of Aman Ullha Bhat of Tengpora (Batamaloo, Srinagar) was arrested on the spot.
In this connection, a case FIR Number 478/2023 under Sections 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation started.
