Peddlers held with 44 kgs of charas, poppy straw

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Police today arrested 2 drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Anantnag, Kulgam districts and recovered over 44 kgs of charas and poppy from their possession.
In Anantnag, authorities said, a police party of Police Station Bijbehara headed by SHO PS Bijbehara, arrested a drug peddler and recovered 36.5 Kgs of Charas Powder from his possession.
“He has been identified as Shakeel Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Rasool Bhat resident of Arwani Bijbehara. He has been arrested and shifted to the Police Station where he remains in custody,” police said.
In Kulgam, authorities said, a police party of PS Qazigund headed by SHO PS Qazigund during patrolling at Naid Chack, Nassu Badragund intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag, who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
“He has been identified as Mohd Hussain Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie resident of Naid Chack Nassu Badragund. During search, officers were able to recover 8 kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession.”
