SAMBA, Nov 26: A pedestrian was killed while the traffic cop was injured in road mishap at Main Chowk, Vijaypur in district Samba today.
According to police, the mishap occurred at Jammu Pathankot National Highway at Main Chowk Vijaypur, when a pedestrian was crossing the road and suddenly a bike rider bearing Registration No JK02 -2293 hit him. A Traffic cop seeing the incident immediately reached on the spot and picked up the injured. Suddenly a speedy car bearing Registration No PB18- 5100 on way from Kathua towards Jammu hit him as a result the traffic cop was also critically injured.
On seeing both in critical condition, the car driver and biker escaped from the spot. However some local people immediately swung into action and shifted them to Emergency Hospital Vijaypur for treatment but where doctor referred both of them to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for further treatment but the pedestrian died on reaching GMC and the injured traffic cop is under going treatment in GMC Hospital Jammu.
The deceased has been identified as Nek Ram, son of Sai Dass resident of Ward No 11 Vijaypur and the injured traffic cop has been identified as Roshan Lal, Son of Prem Chand.
Vijaypur police has taken the cognisance of matter and started investigation.
