Pedestrian killed in road mishap

JAMMU, July 9: A pedestrian was killed on the spot after a speeding car hit him near Bantalab, Nagrota in city outskirts, today.
The mishap occurred this evening at about 6 pm when the driver of a Wagon-R car bearing registration No JK02B-6128, which was on its way from Nagrota to Jammu, lost control over the vehicle and hit the pedestrian namely Sher Ali (25) son of Hussain Mohd, a resident of Panjgrian, who was walking beside the road.
In the mishap, the pedestrian received serious injuries and succumbed on the spot. On getting information, a police team led by DSP Nagrota, Bharat Bhushan Sharma and SHO Nagrota, Inspector Daleep Singh reached on the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for medico-legal formalities.
In this connection, a case FIR No 139/15 u/s 279, 304A has been registered at police station Nagrota and the car involved in the mishap seized. A manhunt has been launched by the police to arrest the accused car driver, who fled from the spot of crime leaving behind his vehicle.
