PEECC to observe National Protest Day on Oct 5

JAMMU, Sept 29: Jammu and Kashmir Power Employees and Engineers Coordination Committee (PEECC) held a meeting and condemned the arrest of Er Shailendra Chairman All India Power Engineers Federation and others by the UP administration in response to their genuine protest against privatisation of discoms in UP.
JKPEECC vehemently criticizes the approach of the Government ventilated through the proposed draconian and anti-people electricity legislation as well as privatization proposal with the clear objective of snatching away the right of access to electricity.
“Government of Uttar Pradesh has resorted to suppressive measures against the UP Power Employees and Engineers who are peacefully protesting against Privatisation of Discoms”, the leaders of JKPEECC said, adding that they stand in solidarity with the Er Shailendra, other leaders and employees who are arrested yesterday.
Power Engineers all over the country are agitated over this uncalled and unwarranted action by Uttar Pradesh Government. JKPEECC unequivocally condemn the arrest of Er Shailendra Chairman AIPEF and demand immediate release of the arrested individuals, and withdraw the proposal of privatisation of Discoms immediately.
It is to inform that, the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) the broad based united platform of all National Federation of Electricity Employees and Engineers, will be observing nationwide demonstration and protest meeting on October 5, 2020 all over the country for withdrawal of Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and to oppose privatization of electricity distribution.
In solidarity to NCCOEEE, AJKPEECC will observe protest day across UT of J&K on October 5 for seeking withdrawal of Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and to oppose privatization of electricity distribution.
